The other morning I had an action list with about 15 items on it. I was eager to get going. The first item went well, and I happily drew a line through it and for extra good measure, placed a large self-satisfied tick beside it. Then I moved onto Item #2, which involved just a bit of technology – the computer, the electronic item, downloading, and running the program.
It should take just a few minutes I thought. But no, as lunch time came and went, I decided to go for a walk before I threw the expensive little thingamajig across the room. I know from experience that that is not a good strategy either. It’s really hard and quite embarrassing to explain dent marks to the cynical tech clerk when you take the item back to the store for replacement.
It turns out – there was a glitch that you could fix by going on the website and checking under the tabs to the FAQs which I HATE doing. But I downloaded it, and the solution worked. And it took 3 hours of my life to find it.
The next morning I was out having a lovely walk when a little black truck came roaring around the corner and headed straight for me. I stood frozen to the spot, and the first lightning thought that crossed my mind and made me laugh was – what a waste all that angst was over technology!
Don’tcha just hate technology sometimes? What’s your favourite technologicaldisasterturnedsuccesshateitbutcan’tlivewithoutit story?
