“Unquestionably, there are sad things in the world right now…
but grumbling doesn’t make anything better.
In fact, it makes things worse.
The Buddha taught,
‘Every mind moment conditions the next.’
Grumbling gets the mind bogged down in the weariness of its own story.
Happiness pulls it back out and gets it going again.”
~Sylvia Boorstein, from her book, “It’s Easier Than You Think.”
Just like anything else, being grumpy is a practice.
Practice grumping about things,
and watch the faces of those around you lose their light.
Practice happiness
and watch those around you catch and reflect your light.
