2016? How did this new year rollick around so fast?
I’ve noticed as I fill out various applications or registration thingamabobs online that I have to scroll ever longer to find my age or birthdate. Sometimes I wonder if the descending numbers will stop before my time and instead of number choices like 20 -25 years old, give me a separate choice, a selection that says – elders et al.
I will fume and not want to tick it off, but after a suitable amount of “being ticked off” seconds pass, I will select it anyway ( or maybe not, maybe I will pick another selection just to cause a rebellious and enjoyable turmoil).
Gosh I dislike that term elders! It’s like a half formed word, an insufferable suffix, a catch all for undetermined unimagined unclassified who the heck are they people? Welders I like, and melders, and sporty terms like outfielders, and midfielders, and infielders, and shielders – I am not sure what they do? But elders, oh my gosh…I don’t want to fit in that little box, labelled as one of those.
I can only think that the best way around this elder business is to have as much fun as possible and in so doing, learn, try out new things, sing loudly and often, run and fumble, and get up again, and try to catch as many balls as possible out there in the outfield or infield, or wherever I might venture so that my dreams don’t get parked under moss.
Happy New Year 2016 – Enjoy today!
