“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like “What about lunch?”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
I agree – some days it all seems a bit too complicated, in so many ways, especially around income tax time.
Last week I passed this little guy on the way to work and I thought hmmm…. I wouldn’t mind changing places for a day. What would it feel like to be a soft furry bunny – with a curious twitching nose, and long sensitive ears – able to take it all in, and then let it all file away softly, without judgment, without talking, without worries – without paperwork, just relaxing in the warm rays of the early spring sun, and perhaps wondering if that little patch of green grass over there has the best nibbles for lunch?
But then again, weighed against all that obnoxious paperwork and difficult “life” stuff – are books, beautiful books, films, chunks of silky chocolate, family love, exciting and fun adventures with friends, a crackling fire on a cold windy grey day, lemon meringue pie, walking in the forest, fresh bread out of the oven, a crisp red spartan apple picked off the tree, being the first to float down a ski hill that’s deep with icing sugar powder, divine music, art that touches your soul, a warm smile, a comforting hug, the satisfaction in overcoming challenges, a moment of joy…and lest I forget, coffee!
I guess I wouldn’t want to be a bunny, even for a day.
