July 31st. 10:30pm 77’ inside the trailer
What a month it has been. And I don’t remember when I have had a happier July.
Today I went biking with Jean, Gord, and their daughter Jennifer who is a professional off road biker. She likes the downhill runs at Whistler –downhill at speed, rocks, and tight turns? I can’t imagine doing that and not being carried away in a stretcher. She drove us in her pickup 25 km to the Paulson Road cut-off, and parked. Then we biked back, the rail trail was pretty high and there was a terrific view over the lake. There were a couple of dark rail tunnels. After that we did the same trail we had done yesterday – and saw where we had made the wrong turn.
I had a great cool down swim in the lake.
It was a super ride and after that they invited me to dinner – salad, homemade smoked sausage, made that afternoon in their smoker, veggies in foil, delicious barbecued chicken, topped off with berries and ice cream.
It was one of my best days ever. Meeting people like Jean and Gord reminds me of how special friends can be – especially ones that are fun bikers and great cooks.
