Hadancy the Painting Horse

Posted on February 17, 2014 by Janice Henshaw in all posts, Meditative Reflections and Photos

I do a lot of walking but it hasn’t happened before, seeing a white horse sauntering along a quiet island road towards me. In the distance it looked like it was alone, but as I got closer, I saw a woman sitting relaxed on top with no saddle, and no bridle, just a rope looped loosely above its lovely soft nose. I started taking photos because that’s what I do. The rider stopped to chat, and Baloo sat quietly and looked up at this beautiful horse.

It turns out that this 18 year old horse is called Hadancy, and her rider owner is Sandy Traver. Hadancy is a very special horse, Sandy told me, she paints pictures with the brush held between her lips while Sandy dips the brush into the paint and holds the canvas. The paintings are sold, and the funds raised go towards helping to rescue horses.

Ahha I thought, even the animals on this island contribute towards the greater good.
